"Breath of rapid Whitewater kiss / River sonnet, Rafting Bliss / Heartbeat pounding, Muscles strain / Laughter echoes, Memories made." --Poem by A. Carney
Whitewater, WI, is a nature lover's dream. When you think of Whitewater you think of a place embraced by the forest, which is not far from the truth. After all, the city is nestled by the lake and protected by the prairies and hills of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. This panoramic city stretches across Walworth and Jefferson counties, and easily reaches out to big-sister communities like Janesville, Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago (just 80 miles away!). It has over 14,390 residents, including some who jumped ship from out of state and who consider this hometown the "center of opportunity" for an exciting quality of life.

Essentials to Calling Whitewater Home
Apartments for Rent
Whitewater will accommodate any budget. There's a wide collection on the market and positive housing trends make for favorable pricing. Homes are of all sizes, built for multiple and single households with just as many condominiums and studio apartments for rent. It's wise to start looking around a month in advance for the right neighborhood, and have documents such as a credit report and proof of income ready.
Property Taxes and Leasing Agreements
The good news is property taxes are low in Whitewater and, with a comfortable cost of living, this makes the city an affordable place to be. Townhouses for rent in Wisconsin require one month's security deposit by law, which is returned to you within 21 days of moving out. But before you hand over your deposit, ensure your landlord provides you with information on any defects and damages that may interfere with an otherwise legally habitable dwelling.
Look Who is in the Neighborhood
Whitewater is 15 minutes away from interstate 43, 90, and 94. It's also close to US Highway 12 and State Highways 59 and 89 that lead right into the community. Hence, the world is your oyster with access to the furthest region of where you want to be, including Rockford, IL.
Communities Less Than Three Miles Away
Whitewater is annexed to the towns of Cold Spring and Hebron to the north, and Lima to the west, all less than a 15-minute drive on the State Highway. Each neighborhood offers a different feel and quality of life than the other.
Cold Spring: This is a small town that is home to the Kettle Moraine Ride, where cyclists take on a scenic looping ride of historical landmarks and acres of glacial hills. Rental apartments are available in this community, in particular the Neenah area.
Hebron: This is a 12-minute ride on the highway from Cold Spring, with a similar small population density. You may find a few homes for sale in the neighborhood, but to locate any leasing apartments or rental houses is a definite stretch. You'll find Strain Park and Trippe Lake Park here.
Lima: Lima is to the north of Hebron, and the smallest of the towns, but quite self sufficient. The town offers a variety of stores and service shops to cater to your needs. Finding a home for rent in this area may prove fruitful.
Living the Life in Whitewater
Just a few things you need to know about living in Whitewater: Residents make ample use of the outdoors, because there is so much to do out there. The region's lakes provide for a variety of recreational activities. Boating and swimming in public beaches, biking and hiking, golfing and hang gliding are popular. In the winter, there are ski shows and performances on Whitewater Lake with great music for dancing.
Shopping
Every year in February the Whitewater Merchant Armory Sale sells overstocked and liquidated merchandise at drastically reduced prices. There are also half a dozen more specialty sale events each year.
In Whitewater you can take part in great city activities, access gateways to bigger metropolises, and do just about anything you want to do. Enjoy the freedom!
