Morrilton is a blend of residential areas and farmlands, and just happens to lie in one of the most beautiful regions of Arkansas. It is situated conveniently along I-40, between the slightly larger cities of Conway and Russellville. The area is home to a number of wineries, as well as the scenic points at Lake Dardanelle, and the Tri Peaks.
Morrilton is the perfect balance of convenience and rural living. Though the town is small and uncrowded, it's just a few minutes from larger towns where all the modern conveniences await -- including shopping malls, nice restaurants and other amusements. It offers plenty of rental houses, many of which are convenient to area activities and amenities.
Morrilton experiences all four seasons vividly. July is typically the hottest month, with temperatures usually topping out just above 90 degrees Fahrenheit. January is typically the coldest month, with temperatures generally bottoming out just below freezing. The area gets bountiful rainfall, which is ideal for the crops, averaging almost 50 inches of rain per year. Winters are mild, but not without some of the white stuff, averaging about four inches of snow per year.
Residents entertain themselves at venues like the Depot Museum, and old train station turned tourist trap, Petit Jean State Park, the Museum of Automobiles, and Barnyard Friends Petting Zoo. In addition to all the chain restaurants you expect, Morrilton boasts some local grub, such as the Rock River Grill. Townhouses for rent are convenient to these venues, yet far enough away that there are no traffic issues to speak of.
The nearby rivers and mountains offer a variety of outdoor activities, including camping, hiking, boating, fishing, and climbing. City lovers can take advantage of the affordable shopping and unusual boutiques and shops. Larger shopping venues and eateries are just a few minutes drive away in neighboring communities. For big-city conveniences, Little Rock is less than an hour's drive away from these Morrilton rental houses.
Morrilton is quite an affordable place to live. Studio and one bedroom apartments are available with prices increasing according to the number of bedrooms you want and the amenities offered by the apartment complex. Furnished apartments are available, in addition to unfurnished units. Rental homes, duplexes and townhouses for rent are also available.
What Morrilton lacks in big city conveniences it makes up for in small town charm. The people are friendly, the countryside is beautiful, and the weather is generally mild and pleasant. However, job opportunities here aren't so bountiful. You might want to find a job before moving here instead of trying to find an apartment first.
Community efforts are underway to help bring more work opportunities to Morrilton's neighborhoods. Initiatives include workforce training and recruiting more industry to the area. The leaders of Morrilton decided not to depend on federal programs to revitalize the community, and have started programs of their own to help residents get plentiful, good-paying jobs.
