Hello! We are renting the massive and sunny loft of our centrally-located home in North Berkeley. Available for move-in ASAP! Please send a note with a brief bio about you and when you'd be available to see the house or meet the rest fo the house on Zoom.

The community: Cedar House is a community of 9 graduate students and working folk - researchers, teachers, consultants, doctoral students, and more! More importantly, we are avid road bikers, backpackers, skiers, beer drinkers, roller skaters, and movie night planners. We think of ourselves as "co-op lite" - we plan social events together and share essentials / bulk goods, but everyone also has space to do their own thing.

The space: The loft is the magical top floor of the home. It is very private - you have a door and private staircase, with well-insulated walls and floors. There are 3 bathrooms in the house overall, and you will be assigned to one along with 1-2 other housemates. All six first photos on this post are just the loft (your private space), followed by the private staircase to the loft. It is a massive and sunny space with hardwood floors and infinite creative combinations for setting up your bed/couches/desks/instruments/etc. It gets lots of light, and you have incredible views all the way down to the bay.

Other perks of the home - a brand new dishwasher, super new and fancy in-unit laundry machines, a projector for movie nights, a cute little backyard, a massive kitchen, an air-fryer, space to park your bikes inside, and more!

The location: We are smack dab in the middle of a sea of restaurants - perhaps most notably, the famous Cheeseboard is down the street. My personal favorite is that we are a literal stone's throw away from a grocery store, and a short walk away from many more grocery stores.

The rental term: We are a few months into a year-long lease. We'd like to sublet for the remainder of the term, at which point you would be added on to the next lease. This is a pretty common arrangement for our house, as folks move in and out throughout the official lease term. We're also open to shorter-term sublets, though we prefer at least 6 months. Lastly, if the price is an obstacle, we are open to negotiating short-term discounts.
