Bithlo is a community in Orange County, Florida with a population of 8,268. The population has almost doubled since the year 2000, which is proof of this city's growth and revitalization. The town is just outside Orlando, about 30 minutes by car. This town was beset by problems and poverty for much of the 1900s but has undergone massive changes in the last decade. Hundreds of volunteers came to the village to help transform the area, especially the future main street, which they are calling "Transformation Village." It's had a rough past, but the volunteer work and the determination of its residents are helping to bring it to a new place.
In order to find a rental property in Bithlo, it's best to look in the summer when a lot of houses are empty. Many people use the area as a place to vacation in winter months, so there will be fewer rentals during that time. Make sure you contact realtors and landlords four to six weeks before your scheduled move-in date. If you're going to a certain neighborhood, try to schedule a few appointments to see apartments in that neighborhood. That will save you a lot of time on your hunt! Also, be sure to bring along all your rental documents. This will save you the time of having to gather the information after you find an apartment you love. The documents include a copy of your ID, your bank statements, pay stubs, letter of employment, rental application, references and anything else you think you might need to score that dream apartment. Your landlord will just need to look over all the info and approve you as a renter before you move in. Some landlords and management companies are a little stricter than others so it just depends on what kind of company you're dealing with.
If you're looking for an apartment complex in Bithlo, you're in for an easy hunt. About 1/5th of the apartments here are rentals and the area has a super high vacancy rate! Contact landlords or use a realtor to find out about available units. But before you do that, make sure you have a clear idea of what it is you're looking for. Try to narrow down your search for apartments as much as possible to save yourself time and energy in looking around Bithlo. Get a clear sense of what you're looking for. You can start by conjuring up your dream apartment and then trying to determine which characteristics are realistic within your budget constraints. Decide if you are looking for duplexes for rent, apartments with pad utilities or 1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartments for rent.
Try to make appointments to see a number of apartments all over the city if you can -- that way you can get a feel for the neighborhood at the same time as learning more about what kinds of apartments are available and what you're going to pay in different parts of town. The median home cost here in Bithlo is a little higher than the national median, but you can always find some deals if you look hard enough.
Bithlo is trying to develop the town and encourage growth but at the moment it's a pretty tiny place without too much going on! Here's a little info about the north and south sides of town.
North Bithlo: The north part of town is home to Lake Louise and a couple of small subdivisions with apartments and mobile homes.
South Bithlo: The southern part of town below E. Colonial Drive is much more rural. Closer to the main road you'll find a few streets with apartments and single-family homes on Orlando Speed World Dragway.
Bithlo is one of Florida's most up and coming locations! It's located just 30 minutes outside of Orlando, where you can head to visit Disney World or one of the many other attractions in "the happiest place on earth!" Inside of Bithlo, you'll find a few of its own attractions as well. The city is still recuperating from a century of hardships, but its amazing how far it has come!
State Route 50, or East Colonial Drive, is the main commercial hub and it runs right through the center of town. Here you'll find the Grill Depot, Ni Hao Chinese Food, Subway, McDonald's and a few other fast food places. There's also a Walgreen's, a few Dollar stores and some other convenient shops located right along this stretch of town. The rest of the city is pretty much all residential.
You're also located only about an hour to the Atlantic Ocean and some of the area's most beautiful beaches. It's sparsely populated and there are a lot of single-family homes along with trailer homes and a few small apartment complexes. Now is the time to move here! It's rare to find property this close to Orlando for prices this low -- most of the neighboring suburbs are much, much more expensive! And the way things are going, it looks like Bithlo is going to skyrocket in housing prices as well. So don't waste any more time and start looking for rental properties here right away!
