Start with a 63 hole golf course. If you can get through all 63 in a day you win... well, bragging rights and a self-administered foot massage. That's how much golf is available in the community of Timber Pines, Florida, that all residents are able to enjoy.
It could be said that Timber Pines isn't for the young - it's an adult community, after all. It could be called a place for the young at heart, however. It's designed with recreation and community involvement in mind. The golf course is just a part of the list of amenities here to help satisfy the recreational and social pursuits those living here want. A country club, fitness center, and ballroom are just the beginning of what is here. It's located near the Gulf Coast just north of the Tampa Bay area, so there are plenty of other diversions close by as well. When at home in the community, the three gates at the entrances keep those meddling kids off the greens.
Moving to Timber Pines
Your first hurdle to overcome has to do with your birthday - it's a 55 and over community, so don't load up the moving truck on your 40th birthday! When you've reached that milestone or it is coming up soon, it's time to start your search for places to rent in Timber Pines. The vacancy rate is fairly close to what you might find in the rest of Florida but there's an important distinction specific to this town that you need to be aware of. Over 90 percent of the homes are owner occupied, which means there aren't going to be that many properties available at any given time. Be proactive when you want to live here. Make a list of available properties, go through it methodically until you match what's out there with what's open. Be prepared to provide a credit check, along with first, last, and security deposit to secure rental homes here.
Seasonal Market
Like more than a few communities in the Sunshine State, Timbers Pines sees its share of Snowbirds. Fleeing northern snows in the winter is one thing - but who can blame them for not wanting to hang out in the soppy hot humidity of summer? If that's not something you're concerned about, you can probably land a good deal on condos for rent in the summer, or if you are wanting to live here year round, that can be leverage if the landlord wants to get out of the seasonal market.
Timber Pines Neighborhood
The community is a census designated place that is home to almost 5,500 people and it is part of the incorporated city of Spring Hill, Florida. Inside the planned community, there aren't really any parts of the town that are distinctly different from the others. The biggest identifier of one section from the rest might just be the layout of the golfing greens that course through Timber Pines. Some homes are attached villa style while others follow the typical floor plans for single family dwellings. One-bedroom apartments can be found in the villas but might require a more stringent search. If you are driving out of the neighborhood frequently, consider searching for a place near one of the security gates.
Living in Timber Pines
It's been called a country club lifestyle, and that's an apt description. You can't go anywhere in this town and not be near a golf course. If knocking the little ball into the hole in the grass isn't your game, fear not - there are lots of other things to do here. Hone your skills in the woodworking shop, play billiards or cards in a game room, take a dip in a pool, or join one of the more than 80 social clubs. If you want to get out and enjoy the city life, it is less than an hour's drive to get to Tampa. Head west for a few minutes and you can be exploring the shoreline and taking in the views of the Gulf of Mexico. When it's time to grab a bite, head out to the Breakfast Station in Spring Hill and start your day out at a local favorite or try Carolina's Cuban Cafe for well, great Cuban food. There's an old saying that says "if you're bored, then you're boring." With so much to do here, there's no reason to be bored!
