The original name of Bethalto was Bethel, but it was discovered that there was already a Bethel, Illinois. It was then changed to Bethalto after they combined the first four letters of Bethel and the first four letters of the nearby town Alton.
Bethalto is a village located in Madison County (not THAT Madison County), Illinois with a population of 9,521. It's part of the eastern portion of Greater St. Louis and is a bedroom community for the bigger city. It's home to a number of industries that keep the community thriving on its own, however. There are quite a few delicious restaurants in the area and residents love the very tight-knit and local community feel that the town has. Bethalto residents have convenient access to the area's freeway system and Illinois Route 255 and Illinois Route 143 both pass close to town. The village has quite a few beautiful parks, such as Municipal Park, which has an outdoor amphitheater, swimming pool, lighted tennis courts, baseball fields, skateboard park and basketball court. This is just one of the area's major parks and beautiful scenic areas. View Bethalto City Guide
Bethalto apartments with garages are sometimes more expensive than other options. However, they may make more financial sense in the long run.
Weather, break-ins, and daily struggles to find a space can take a toll financially and physically. Remember that even cities in mild climates experience issues like salt air, tornadoes, hail, falling branches from storms, and other issues.
It’s also possible to score an auto insurance reduction if you park in a garage. Ask your insurance provider about any deals or discounts that could trim money off the cost of your monthly bill.
Before signing a lease, ask the landlord or property manager about any restrictions on garage use. It’s important to know if there are enough spaces for tenants and visitors and what happens if the garage is full. If you’re moving into an apartment inside a home, ask about any conditions on its use and if storage is allowed.
