Franklin, Louisiana is a small city of 7,660 people located outside of Morgan City. It was founded in the early 1800s and has a rich history -- quite literally, as the town enjoyed economic growth thanks to the success of its large sugar plantations. Many of the grand plantation homes and mansion are still well-preserved in Franklin, which gives it a distinct and beautiful architectural flair. A number of well-known movies have been filmed here, including "Easy Rider," "The Drowning Pool" and "All the King's Men." If you move here, there's a chance you'll turn up on the big screen as an extra someday down the road! Hellooo, five seconds of fame.

When it comes to dining out, try Chicks Burgers, which is one of the best restaurants in town according to the locals! For outdoorsy types, there's Bayou Teche National Wildlife Refuge, where visitors can enjoy bird watching, wildlife observation, boating, photography, fishing and hunting.
