Jenison is a quiet town. Since the violent crime rate is somewhat lower than the state average, individuals who call Jenison home enjoy the fact they can go out and not have to worry about being the victim of a crime. Residents are friendly and won't hesitate to extend a warm greeting or lend a helping hand to newcomers. The city of Jenison is built up and has all the things the average person needs to get by. Once residents leave Jenison, they'll find themselves surrounded by farms, which is pretty typical of Michigan.
Although Jenison is a big town, at least by Michigan's standards, like most towns in the mid-west, it still has that small town vibe that makes it a great place to live and start a family. In its early days, Jenison was part of Michigan's logging industry. Today it is one of Grand Rapids suburbs. Most of the people who live in Jenison work in Grand Rapids. The city also attracts students and teachers who attend or teach classes at one of the nearby universities, who appreciate being able to live within easy driving distances of the campuses and find Jenison's lower cost of living easier to manage.
When you live in Jenison's town center you can expect your neighbors to both play and work hard. They're a pleasant group of people who will be happy to lend a hand whenever you need it.
Northern Jenison: The northern section of Jenison tends to attract a slightly higher class of residents than other sections of the town. It's usually a place where local college professors and up and coming executives like to live. The buildings are a bit more spaced out than they are in other parts of town, and there's more modern construction. When looking for rental homes in northern Jenison, you'll want to give yourself at least 6 weeks to locate a suitable place since they usually get snapped up quickly.
Eastern Jenison: Although there isn't a big difference in price from one side of Jenison to the other, when compared to the rental apartments and house rental options in the northern part of Jenison, the rates are slightly lower in Eastern Jenison. The available buildings are little older and some might be in need of repair, which could be a good thing for you. If you find some rental homes in Jenison that are a little run down, you might be able to make a deal with your landlord that involves you doing some maintenance work in exchange for a slight decrease in rent. While it's difficult to find all bills paid apartments in the Eastern section of Jenison, you can find rental homes in the area that are owned by landlords who are willing to cover some expenses.
Georgetown Township: You're going to be hard pressed to find any place nicer than Jenison's Georgetown Township. It has everything you could ever imagine needing. The places to live in this neighborhood are well kept, affordable, and there's a wide variety of options ranging from one bedroom apartments for rent to rental condos.
One of the best things about living in Jenison's Georgetown Township is the easy access you'll have to the 8th Ave. Park. It's everything you ever imagined a park could be. It has everything from amazing playgrounds, to bike trails, to a lake, and even areas where you can spend the entire weekend fishing.
Town Center: Jenison's town center is a very interesting place to live. It's the oldest part of the city, which means that walking through the town can be a very visually stimulating experience; all of the buildings come from various time periods so there's no cookie cutter neighborhoods like you'd find on the other edges of Jenison. The variety in architecture also means a wider choice in rental apartments. You're more likely to find a studio for rent or a simple one bedroom apartment or single room in Jenison's town center than you would be in the outlying areas of the city.
