Menominee attained its name from a regional Native American tribe that previously inhabited the area. Menominee in English means "wild rice," so it's relatively easy to figure out what the staple diet was in the vicinity back then.
The city of "wild rice," together with its 9,000 inhabitants, resides in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Though there's plenty of rental housing within the city, you'll find that there is in fact something of a shortage of apartments and condos. All the same, there's a whole lot to do in this little buzzing town, and the views over Green Bay are to die for! Not literally, of course!

Folks who are looking to rent in the area should bring the equivalent of one month's rental for a deposit, in addition to a month's rent up-front. Further, references may be a requirement for some landlords, but certainly not all. And finally, proof of current income and employment is normally required, though again, some prospective landlords may not require that, providing you flash the cash straight off the bat.

It should be noted that there are more rental houses than , say, one-bedroom apartments or premier apartments in Menominee. Thus, perhaps a level of flexibility is called for with respect to the type of dwelling you finally settle on.
US Highway 41: This area is just off the highway and is the perfect place to gain access to the town's amenities and commute on a daily basis. There are a couple of restaurants within easy walking distance, including Whistle Stop, which serves American-style, and also runs a bar. There's also Pullman House which provides traditional American to its hungry patrons.
14th Avenue: This area is relatively centrally located. You may be fortunate to find some one-bedroom apartments for rent on 14th Ave. The walk score is 66 out of 100 so you won't be totally reliant on a car here but you will still need one. There are eight eating establishments. The crime rating for the area is zero. You really can't get better than that.
36th Avenue: This area offers tenants a lovely location close to Water Tower Park. If you are looking for a one-bedroom apartment in Menominee, this may be the perfect spot for you!
Living in Menominee
Commuters who reside in Menominee are spoiled for choice when it comes to car travel. The US 41 connects Wisconsin, Green Bay, and Marinette in the south, and Marquette as well as Escanaba to the north. The M-35 travels along the scenic route of Lake Michigan's Green Bay to arrive at Escanaba. For folks who prefer to travel by bus, the Indian Trails bus line operates a daily intercity bus service with a stop in Menominee, after which, the bus journeys to Hancock and Milwaukee.
The Riverside Golf Club offers 18 holes of pure joy, if you consider smacking a little white ball around to be a joyful pursuit. For those who prefer things to be a bit more leisurely, not that playing golf is a particularly strenuous affair, Berg's Landing Restaurant over on 1st St does great food (American and seafood) and affords a top-class dining experience all round. It's wise to book in advance though, or you might find yourself perched out on the grass while you fill your belly. Oh, and this establishment also offers the most beautiful views over Green Bay - can't be bad!
