Midland is situated in central Michigan, just outside of Flint and about two hours northeast of Grand Rapids. It offers hot summers and cold winters, but nothing too extreme on either end. The city has a notable cultural streak and opportunities for theater, symphony, art, dance and museum hopping abound. Basic studio apartments cost about $450 plus a comparable deposit with lease terms are generally hovering around one year. One-bedroom apartments will typically run you around $600 and two-bedrooms cost about $700. These types of apartments will usually include air conditioning, cable, Internet, balconies, patios and off-street parking. Square footage can range anywhere from 500 to 900 square feet. Once you get into three and four-bedroom apartments, you’ll be looking at the $800-plus range (with added amenities like swimming pools and hot tubs). Condominiums also tend to cost more and feature more creature comforts.
