The city of Harrisonille, Missouri was founded in 1837. The town is named for the man responsible for securing the land grant, Congressman Albert G. Harrison, that enabled the town to come into existence. The town suffered greatly during the American Civil War, however it was spared the fate inflicted upon other counties in the area -- depopulation. The city covers just over ten square miles and has a population of approximately 10,000 residents.
