Meanwhile, its population, at around 8,500, is getting on for nine times that of Antarctica in the winter. And a relatively youthful population, with an average age of 38, means most residents are younger than Neil Armstrong was when he landed on the moon. Pine Lake Park also has a predominantly well-educated population and lower than average levels of unemployment. But with a relatively small surface area, it's still pretty easy to get around on foot or with local buses.
There are plenty of things to see and do locally, however you and your family like to spend your spare time. Nearby attractions for art buffs include the Montclair Museum, while if science and technology are more your thing, try the Morris or Newark Museums.
There's also a lively microbrewery scene, and some pretty neat restaurants. To work off the extra calories, enjoy a round of golf somewhere like the Somerset Hills Country Club.
