The lake, from which the community is named, covers an area of about half a square mile and it is maintained by the White Meadow Lake Property Owners Association. This group looks after access to the lake and its beaches, as well as provides boat docks, a clubhouse and other facilities. In the winter, it is possible for residents to skate on the lake. Not everywhere you might search for a home for rent can offer that, right? White Meadow Lake is part of the Rockaway Township and Interstate 80 splits the two communities from one another, forming a manmade southern boundary.

Many people choose to live in the community because of its leafy surroundings, whilst remaining in striking distance of New York City. Perhaps because of its great transportation links, the area is popular with all sorts of people at all times of the year, so there is no 'good time' to start looking. If you find the right home, then be prepared to move quickly to secure it, which means that you are going to have to have your rental security deposit at the ready to transfer.
White Meadow Lake is bounded to the south by the Interstate and to the north by Wildcat Ridge State Wildlife Management Area, a 3,745-acre nature reserve that is home to rare bats and hawks. The eastern limit of the community roughly ends at Green Pond Road, before you reach Denville. To the west, Mount Hope Road forms the boundary. It runs northward to Picatinny Arsenal and lies beyond Mill Pond -- the second large body of water in the community.
SouthernWhiteMeadowLake: The area closest to the Interstate is the ideal location if you are planning on making regular trips to N.Y.C. for work. There is a hotel close to the intersection and a couple of restaurants. Try Rockaway River Barn on Green Pond Road to get a flavor of the neighborhood.
NorthernWhiteMeadowLake: Two of the lake's three beaches lie on its northern shore and these are very attractive even if beaches are not your thing. As well as the lake, there are some good sporting facilities located on Montauk Avenue that include softball pitches and tennis courts. To the east of the lake, there is a great park named Valley View Woods, and it can be well worth a trip to view a home that overlooks this open space.
The community of White Meadow Lake has plenty to offer. The lake itself is at the heart of community life. It is used for boating, fishing and ice fishing in the winter. The beaches are well-maintained and supervised by lifeguards. Rockaway has a couple of beaches to choose from, as well as some bars and restaurants which are clustered around West Main Street.
