Brecksville was settled in 1811 and named after Colonel John Breck. Though he never settled in Brecksville, three of his sons did, and their influence is seen in the brick homestead they built that faces today's public square.
The city of Brecksville, Ohio is unique to northern Ohio and the Cuyahoga County area. Brecksville is comprised of roughly one-third park system lands, making it a nature lover's dream. Both the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Brecksville Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks occupy large portions of the city, with the Brecksville Reservation covering 2,500 acres of city land. The Cuyahoga Valley National Park is one of the top ten most visited national parks in the country annually. View Brecksville City Guide
