On Father's Day each year, the downtown streets of Logan come alive with people, music and celebration. Although they may well be celebrating the nationwide holiday, the residents of Logan are also celebrating the washboard, a musical instrument. That's because Logan is home to the Columbus Washboard Company, the only washboard manufacturing company remaining in the country.
Logan, OH is a lovely little town in the midwest. Home to about 7,150 people, it's a little city in the center of America known for quiet living and suburban amenities. Logan provides a great life today, but it is also steeped in history. Known as "The Gateway to Ohio's Scenic Wonderland," Logan is the right place to come to if you need a bit of peace and quiet, not to mention ample wilderness to roam around in.
Moving to Logan
The first step when you decide to move to a new place is to think about what's important to you in a house. Maybe you want a house that's a certain size, or a place in a certain neighborhood, or a home that has a certain amenity. Whatever it is, use that to narrow down the list of potential apartments, then begin to prepare to apply for a rental. You'll need bank statements, tax returns, pay stubs, letters of reference, and copies of your IDs. You're going to want to show your potential landlord that you're an awesome person and that you're going to pay rent on time! Next, make appointments to see the apartments. You want to make sure they're as good in person as they are on paper. Once you've found your dream home, apply! Then wait to see if you're approved. Once you are, make a deposit and pack your bags. You're moving to Logan!
Logan Neighborhoods
There are five neighborhoods within Logan, all of which have something unique to offer. The center of the city is the place to be if you want to be closest to action and entertainment. However, the other neighborhoods are worth looking at as well for a number of reasons.
City Center: The center of Logan is the heart of it. It's where most of the restaurants and commercial spots are. Pizza Crossing is a favorite in this part of town, as is Bush's Restaurant. Consider living here if you like to be in the midst of some hustle and bustle.
Western Logan: Western Logan is pretty remote, with many quiet residential suburban streets running through it. It's home to the Hocking Mall, a great shopping center, as well as the Hocking Valley Community Hospital. This is a great neighborhood for anyone who wants a mix of activity and quiet.
Eastern Logan: Eastern Logan is home to the town's fairgrounds. Some of it is rural, with big, spread out fields and lots of Wide Open Spaces (a la the Dixie Chicks.) It also has several residential streets as well, though, and feels like a welcoming neighborhood. Expect to find places like Jack's Steakhouse and Lee's Banquet Hall, two local favorite eateries, in this lovely little part of Logan.
