City Guide for Monfort Heights, OH

Monfort Heights was named after a Civil War Captain turned postmaster of Cincinnati.

Rainy weather kept soggy Millcreek Valley and the area's steep hillsides around the Monfort Heights area in Green Township a rural farming area until the arrival of the streetcar in the 1900s. In 1908, the new Harrison Avenue Viaduct opened travel to Cincinnati's west side. When it was replaced by the Western Hills Viaduct in 1932, automobile drivers began to make their way west. As the population expanded, Monfort Heights was divided into the areas of Monfort Heights East and Monfort Heights South. Both Monfort neighborhoods are lovely with mature shady trees and lots of space, and both are highly desirable. View Monfort Heights City Guide
