Almost 30 percent of the homes are considered historic and were built before 1939. The city is located almost directly between Columbus and Cleveland, which could explain many of the citizen's deep love for the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. Shelby offers quite a few apartment communities to choose from. With plenty of amenities at most of them, it's hard to go wrong.
Meadow Estates: Meadow Estates offers a streamlined application that doesn't require a fee. Once approved, residents can enjoy having a dishwasher, microwave, and air conditioner in their apartment. They can also enjoy the community room, playground, and their own patio or balcony.
The Pines Apartment: Nestled between the city reservoir and North Central State College, this complex offers affordable apartments for its residents.
Fox Hollow Apartments: These apartments offer easy access to the local favorite Don Juan Authentic Mexican, and quick grocery shopping at the IGA. For those needing to work off those burritos, Seltzer park is right nearby, too.
Shelby residents enjoy their small city with delicious local eateries and plenty of parks and fresh air. While there's not much major shopping in Shelby itself, Mansfield and Cleveland offer plenty of options. On Saturdays, make sure to check out the Farmer's Market in Central Park (no, not that one, but this one is almost as good). Local farmers come out during the warmer months to sell their home grown fresh fruits and vegetables. Local artists and people who are just plain crafty show off their talents as well. It's not unusual to see fresh-baked pies and other homemade treats. On special occasions, you'll even get to hear some live music. When you're not home eating your delicious finds from the farmer's market, you can enjoy Paul's Drive In, the Parrot Head Pub, or the LC Dari Bar -- all local favorites.
