Finding an Apartment to Rent
The home values in Guymon are quite low when compared to most other American cities; nevertheless, house rentals can be quite steep. They can also be fairly inexpensive at times, so keep your eyes open! Available homes are quite tough to find, since housing for rent doesn't experience frequent turnover in this community. What does that mean for you? It means that you should get on a first-name basis with a local apartments locator who can keep you up-to-date on all the new listings. Be prepared to jump into a duplex for rent, or a larger house, based on availability. You might not have much other choice, so love the one you're with!
There are two main neighborhoods in this city, each with different costs of living and physical attributes.
City Center: The City Center is indeed right in the middle of Guymon, but of course this is also the commercial center of the city as well. Housing here is more affordable than in the outskirts, meaning that now is an excellent time to get into a rental or buy a house outright. Here, you'll find medium-sized houses, small houses and studio apartments, as well as small and large businesses and financial centers.
Guymon Outskirts: The Outskirts contains both the north and south points of the city as well as the sparsely placed homes in the countryside. Here you will find mobile homes, medium-sized houses and small houses, most of which were built between 1970 and 1999. All this extra space costs renters and buyers a little extra, but not much!
Groceries and Supplies
Even if you're going to rent an apartment in the Outskirts, you need not worry about groceries, although you might want to keep a working vehicle tucked in your back pocket for emergencies. There are several grocery and home supply stores in the city limits, including Walmart, United Supermarkets, and Mora's Market. You can also shop at the Spanish shops, including La Morenita and Tortillas Velasquez and Son.
Eating Out
The Latin theme continues with the Seafood and Taco Shop and Sheilo's Mexican American Restaurant. Take your taste buds even further afield with the New Dragon Restaurant or Taste of China! There are also plenty of classic American eateries like Guymon's Ambassador Restaurant, Yesterday's Diner and Caktus Jack's Steakhouse. Feeling peckish for some fast food? All the usual suspects are lined up along Highway 136, waiting for you to stop by!
