Southern Tecumseh: This area is closest to the East Broadway Extension. The area is further away from major highways and is ideal for urban residential life. Houses mingle with restaurants, businesses, and retail establishments. Residents in this area are known to frequent the Benedict Street Marketplace in search of bargains and unique finds. Walking is often considered the easiest and fastest mode of transportation in this portion of the city.

Eastern Tecumseh: This area of the city is located closest to Hwy 177. It is a hotspot for activity, and some of the nicer chain restaurants are situated on this side of town. There are some apartment complexes and townhouses interspersed with businesses and other establishments like Castle Cutters, a neighborhood salon that Eastern Tecumseh residents regularly visit.

Western Tecumseh: This area of the city is located closest to Lake Thunderbird State Park. It's a little less crowded in this area, and there are very few businesses and restaurants. Businesses like Randy's Tire Alignment are located in this mostly residential area. A few small neighborhoods and solitary houses are found in this section of the city.

Living in Tecumseh

Tecumseh is such a small city that there aren't any major neighborhoods in the area. Of course, this doesn't mean there isn't anything to do. New residents and road weary travelers that stumble into this out of the way area soon discover that it offers a treasure trove of outdoor activities. Tecumseh City Lake is a popular local haunt for fishing, boating and overnight camping. The Lake is opened to the public and any fees charged are minimal.

Slick Humphrey Park has lots of athletic activities for locals to engage in. There are tennis courts, volleyball courts, softball fields and even a skate park. The park is open to the public and is available on a first come first served basis. An active youth program with over 500 kids meets regularly at this venue.

Golfing at the Fire Lake Golf Course is another popular local pastime. There is an 18-hole course, driving range and putting green. The golf course also has a restaurant on the premises, and a miniature golf course, as well.

There are not a lot of public transportation options in this smaller city. Most of the residents use automobiles to get where they need to go. Buses do make their way into the city limits from larger more populated areas, and there are cabs available.

Although the area doesn't get a lot of traffic, that doesn't mean there isn't spectacular cuisine available in this fine little city. Local fare and foreign dishes are prepared at many establishments in Tecumseh. From fast food chains to fine dining options, everything is available. Residents enjoy whetting their appetites with a variety of food choices.

There are also a lot of local shopping venues in this area. Although major chains have invaded the town, mom-and-pop shopping establishments are making a comeback because of community efforts to encourage local stores to return to the area. There are currently antique stores, book stores, fresh produce, and smaller specialty stores open in the area.
