Neighborhoods of Maple Glen

Maple Glen is roughly divided into northern and southern halves, both mostly residential with a small amount of commercial property and an abundance of park land. Norristown Road is the dividing line and it leads to many of the surrounding urban areas, such as Lansdale and Horsham.

Downtown: Maple Glen has a small downtown area at the very center of town. There are several restaurants and other businesses in this area, as well as apartments nearby on both sides of the road.

North Side: The north end of Maple Glen is the smaller half of town and is mostly dedicated to single-family houses, though there are apartment complexes located just north of Norristown Road. It's not uncommon to find 3 bedroom houses for rent farther north in the area and many of the neighborhoods are lightly wooded. This neighborhood is also close to UFS-Aero commercial airport and flight school, plus a large amount of park land for the Manor House at Commonwealth, Hidden Springs Golf Course and Samuel Carpenter Park.

South Side: The larger south end is a mix of residential space and the campus of Temple University Ambler Campus. There are plenty of apartments and condos in the center of the south side, especially west of Highway 152. East of the highway is more suburban with houses and some park land, as well as easy access to the parks and amenities of nearby Jarrettown. There is also some farm land on the south side known as the Reserve of Horsham.

Life in Maple Glen

Maple Glen is mostly a bedroom community for the greater Philadelphia area, so many people who live there commute into the city for work. Those who want to stay closer to home have a number of options in the small downtown area. The Pistachio Grill is a popular dining spot, while In The Bag is Maple Glen's local deli. The Keswick Theatre in the neighboring community of Willow Grove is a performing arts venue that brings in music and other live shows. There are also plenty of green spaces and nature attractions such as Fort Washington State Park a few miles south of town.

Maple Glen is approximately a half hour from North Philadelphia for those who commute or want to visit the city for entertainment. It's also easy to catch a train to Manhattan for the day or take a long weekend vacation to the Jersey Shore.
