Settled in the 1700's, Mt. Carmel was once a center for the mining of anthracite coal. Today, this attractive, small community of just over 5,800 offers an attractive downtown and pretty tree covered hills. A borough in Northumberland County, the small community is about 90 minutes from Harrisburg and just under two hours from Philadelphia.
