Only minutes from Cherokee and Douglas Lakes, it takes great advantage of its prime location, benefiting from the big-city amenities offered by nearby Knoxville and Gatlinburg, while retaining its lovely country town atmosphere. Get a Car
If you don't already have one, getting around while living in a smallish town like Jefferson City necessitates a decent car; while you may be able to walk places within the town itself, there will be plenty of times when you need to visit Knoxville or Gatlinburg for those things Jefferson does not offer, so a car is a must.
Consider Your Commute
Jefferson City has a good employment rate, but it does not have as diverse an industry rate (yet) as the bigger cities do, so there is a distinct possibility you will have to commute to work in one of the larger nearby cities. Be sure to allow for a gas budget that will cover a daily commute, should it prove necessary.
Jefferson City has a bucket load of pros and few cons to contend with them. Though some may consider a lack of neighborhoods as a con, it's actually a pro because you won't have to worry about getting lost! If it appeals to you, do your homework, then pack your bags and get over to your rental home or rental condo in Jefferson City! Living in Jefferson City
There's plenty to do here; lake activities include fishing, boating, water skiing, and camping by the lakeside. Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers a plethora of activities, including hiking, cycling, auto touring, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, picnicking, and ranger-led activities. It features a large number of waterfalls -- stunningly beautiful and well worth the visit. The park is home to at least 30 different species of salamanders, making it home to the most diverse salamander population anywhere in the world; that alone should warrant a visit, if cute (or creepy?) crawlies are your thing. And to top it all off, Jefferson City has a low cost of living and a lower-than-average crime rate to boot, so stop hesitating and find a home to rent in Jefferson City!
