West Point's residents get to enjoy the natural beauty of the lake to the west and the state's green hills to the east, as well as easy access to Salt Lake City just a few miles south. The town is home to approximately 9,500 people living in one of greenest parts of Utah. It's mostly a mix of rural plots and suburban neighborhoods lined with houses and a few areas with apartments and condos. It's the very definition of a bedroom community, meaning that you'll have to hop in your car to grab a bite to eat, hit the shops, or see a movie. This makes for a quiet retreat that's as close to the city as it is to some of the state's grandest national parks.
Moving to West Point
Those considering settling down in West Point will find an abundance of rental homes and apartments at or near the average national rate. Though it's a small town, a car is essential, as many of the neighborhoods aren't in walking distance of local amenities and you'll want to have access to larger areas like Salt Lake City. Also be prepared for mild summers and cold, somewhat wet winters.
Neighborhoods of West Point
The south side of West Point is more rural than the north, with several large farms dotting the landscape below West 300 Street. This is also where some of the larger houses in West Point have been built. North of West 300 Street, the town is far more suburban and dense. There are also some scattered farms on the north side, but all in all the neighborhood is more about big, shared yards, cul-de-sacs, and community centers.
Life in West Point
The nearest shops, restaurants, and urban amenities are just east of the neighborhood in the town of Syracuse, including the Syracuse Cinema and the Trolley Wing Neighborhood Sports Bar and Grill. Schneiter's Bluff Golf Course is on the border between the two halves of West Point, while large, manicured green spaces like Loy Blake Park make the north side look and feel especially lush.
West Point is great for its proximity to the lake and it's ideal for those who like to have a little more room to stretch out. It has easy access to the true woods of Antelope Island State Park and it's just off Highway 15 for those who don't mind a day trip to Ogden or SLC.
