Richfield Historical Park is home to the Messer / Meyer Grist Mill located on the Coney Creek. Built in 1871, it is filled with the original milling equipment and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Village of Richfield (formally township) is located about 30 minutes northwest of the city of Milwaukee. With a population of 11,300, according to the 2010 U.S. Census, the village is a short drive to Lake Michigan. Richfield is not just a one-traffic-light town. Colgate: Basse's Taste of Country farmer's market offers fun activities all year long. In this area of residences, it may be difficult to find an apartment.
Plat: This neighborhood is in the southwestern area of Richfield.
Hubertus: Follow the scenic Ice Age trail to Holy Hill, home of the Basilica. The Basilica is a historic church that welcomes 300,000 visitors a year. It offers beautiful, panoramic views of the countryside.
Pleasant Hill: This neighborhood is in the northwestern area of the village.
Living in Richfield
Richfield has a lot to brag about these days. The village maintains six community parks that offer everything from hiking trails to cross-country skiing. Local parks have areas for sports such as baseball, basketball, and tennis. There are plenty of other recreational activities too in Richfield including golf, fishing, and swimming. Richfield Days is an annual festival with music, vendors, games, rides, and even a softball tournament. There's also a parade and a fireworks display. Those looking for nightlife can find some action at Madam Belle's Silver Dollar Saloon, Fat Charlie's, or the Hairy Lemon Irish Pub. Richfield is a community with a lot of history and if you're looking for country living, this might just be the place for you.
