Clinton, Tennessee, serves as the county seat for Anderson County and counted 9,841 residents in 2010. Clinton falls within the Knoxville Metropolitan area but is a small southeastern town along the banks of the Clinch River. It's known as a beautiful small southern town with plenty of great amenities and things to do, particularly in the milder seasons of spring and fall.
Moving to Clinton
During your search for apartments, check for either fans or air conditioners, as summers in Clinton can be extremely hot. On the upside, winters are mild and pleasant, but be warned: your northerner friends may decide your couch looks like a cozy spot to come and hibernate. The rent in Clinton is affordable, but be prepared for a tough search when it comes to rental housing or condos for rent. Most units are occupied by owners, and only a small percentage of all properties may become available for rent at any given time. A two-bedroom apartment for rent may also be easier to find than your smaller studio or one-bedroom units, so expand your search; bigger is always better, and to make sure you get the bigger place bring with you copies of your ID, bank statements, proof of employment, and a credit report.
Clinton Neighborhoods
There aren't distinct neighborhoods in Clinton, so breaking down the city into sections is the best way to approach a decision on where you want to live.
North Clinton: Clinton's City Center is north of the river bend and boasts a couple of interesting shops and services. If your passion is antiques, you will be in seventh heaven all along Market Street you find antiques, antiques, and more antiques. Those not interested in antiques find other collectibles here. The Anderson County Chancery Court is also in this part of town, so if you have a legal issue, this is where you discover whether the law is on your side or not.
South Clinton: Golf lovers want to live in the southern part of town if they want to be within golf cart distance from the Melton Hill Golf and Country Club. This golf course has pristine greens and is beautifully situated in the river bend. If you have car troubles or require new wheels, the folks from Automedic, Tennessee Auto Sales, or AutoCade Inc., may be at your service. This is also where you can grab a quick pizza or enjoy Heavenly Hog Barbeque.
Life in Clinton

In summer, the Clinton Municipal Pool is a great gathering place. Cool down here after sweating it out at Dream Dance Studio. A great place for fitness freaks to hang out is Jaycee Park, which has several baseball and softball fields, tennis and basketball courts, a lovely picnic area, walking trail, and an outdoor swimming pool. Head to Harrison's or Apple Blossom Cafe for a bite to eat.
